In January the boys and I went to the second day's play of the 3rd Test between Australia and South Africa. We went with Patrick and his son Atticus. The full match report is available from the Cricinfo website.

3rd Test: Australia v South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Day 2, 3rd January 2006

The second day resumed with South Africa 3/230. Prince and Kallis had built a big fourth wicket partnership which lasted until Kallis was dismissed for 111 with the score on 305. Prince went on to score 119.

Conrad sends one down just over middle stump. Callum is looking at where he thinks the ball should have gone. Silly mid-off and silly mid-on look disappointed.

Meanwhile the extension was structurally complete so we started using it when the builders weren't there. Here Callum and Conrad are doing their homework.

We got to know a German guy called Berhe that summer. His Sudanese parentage and his German upbringing hadn't prepared him for cricket so we needed to explain a lot.
