Post from the US – long awaited but, sadly, arrived with the important contents missing

A very kind American friend of Callums posted some Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia to him, some of which she had especially signed for him at the stadium in Kansas City last month during the player selection for next season. The postage tube arrived today but someone had opened it along its journey and stolen the poster and the signed cards. At least whoever did this left him the foam cup holders, but Callum is sad that the special papers addressed to him as ‘Aussie’, are gone. Connie Jo went to so much trouble and did all this especially for him, because she knows how much it would mean to him to get these things, and then some low life rips it open and steals it. And there can be no mistake about it, because I rang Connie Jo today and the postage tube had been packed in a certain way by her, and had obiously been been tampered with. And even if the sealing caps had fallen off there would have been no way the posters and papers could have fallen out seeing that they were inside a tube and being held in place by two strong foam cup holders which I had to pull out quite forcefullyl to see the inside of the tube.
I was excited when I got home from work this morning and the mail from the US had arrived. And Connie Jo was also anxious to hear what Callum would say about his special surprises. Once I had removed the cup holders which were both squashed at one end of the tube I stared at the empty tube in disbelief. Callum was home sick from school today so not only did I have to tell him that the poster, which he had already seen on the internet, had been stolen but also that the sign, saying ‘hello Aussie’, which the Kansas City Chiefs mascot had been holding up while Connie Jo took a photo was gone as well.
There really are some awful people around.
