  • The house has some native shrubs close to the front windows so we got a close look at some local birds. Here is a Yellow-faced Honeyeater on a Bottlebrush. The other honeyeater we saw closeup was the Eastern Spinebill but I didn't get a sharp photo.

  • In the afternoon we drove to Tallowa Dam which has a very attractive blue pipeline and a fish elevator.

  • We took the rear springs out of the old red Saab and put them in the new Green Saab. They look high when the car is empty but are great when it has five people plus luggage.

  • Just before leaving the valley we stopped off at the weir under the Hampden Bridge and saw this White-faced Heron fishing. He wasn't disturbed by our presence so we watched him for some time. The weir is obviously a choice fishing spot - invertebrates and small fish are visible as they get washed over the high edge of the weir ...
